Jews, Homosexuals, Independent Women not Welcome?

A friend sent me this email regarding the Delta situation.
hi shira, saw your link and got a bit hot under the collar re delta/saudi arabian air thing. had some questions - if visas are not given to those with "jewish sounding" names, this raises a whole can of worms.... what if two men or two women are travelling together will it be assumed they are gay and be denied? if someone has a criminal record for stealing will he have to lop off his hand to fly? are women travelling on their own allowed to board? and israeli stamps in passports, what about those who have gone there to "help" the muslims?

These are all valid questions. To what end do we play this game?

I completely understand that each country has the right to set their own rules for entry. I can respect that. But I cannot respect an American company being okay with these discriminatory practices. It is racism at its best. Why is Delta a part of it?

Jews not Welcome?

It seems that the rumors are true... Jews are not welcome on Delta on flights to Saudi Arabia. The Delta's explanation is more damning than just a straight answer.
We've gotten questions today from you, our concerned customers, following an article about Saudi Arabian Airlines joining SkyTeam (the global airline alliance that includes Delta as a member). After listening to many of your thoughts today, we'd like to take this opportunity to share some information and help to clarify some of the questions we know you have.

First and foremost, I think one of the most important things to mention here is that Delta does not discriminate nor do we condone discrimination against anyone in regards to age, race, nationality, religion, or gender.

That said, some have raised questions about whether Saudi Arabian Airlines' membership in SkyTeam means Delta is adopting any type of policies that could present barriers to travel for some passengers, including Jewish customers. For this particular concern, it's important to realize that visa requirements to enter any country are dictated by that nation's government, not the airlines, and they apply to anyone entering the country regardless of whether it's by plane, bus or train.

We, like all international airlines, are required to comply with all applicable laws governing entry into every country we serve. You as passengers are responsible for obtaining the necessary travel documents, such as visas and certification of required vaccinations, and we're responsible for making sure that you have the proper documentation before you board.

In other words, countries that do not allow Jews, Israelis, or people that have an Israeli stamp in their passport are setting the rules and we're just playing by those rules.

Another note here: We're condemning Delta, but what about all the other members of SkyTeam? Delta seems to be the only participating American company, are we giving the others a free pass? Do we expect more from American companies? Of course the answer is yes. We expect them to do what's right, not just follow orders.

Idiots North of the Border

The summer is upon us; as is Gaza Flotilla #2. Another group of idiots are on their way to try to break Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip. Among them are 32 Canadians. As is reported in The Star (Toronto):
John Greyon’s smile didn’t waver for a moment as he answered questions and posed for photos.

But he admitted he is worried.

“There is concern about what can happen,” said the Toronto filmmaker and York University professor who was at Pearson International Airport on Sunday. “But I am also inspired by how big this is.”

He was among seven Canadians who flew to Greece Sunday to join a convoy of ships that is trying to take aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in the coming weeks.

What could Greyon possibly be concerned about? That he's bringing aid to terrorists who continue to indiscriminately send rockets into Israel - killing children?

No, he wouldn't be worried about that. I'm sure that it didn't concern him either that Hamas leaders in Gaza mourned the death of Osama bin Ladin.
"We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior. We ask God to offer him mercy with the true believers and the martyrs."

Nope, that does worry him either.

Oh yes, and the fact that candy was handed out in celebration for that infamous bin Ladin operation of September 9th, 2001 obviously doesn't bother him either. But why would it?

It's more important to show that Israel is intolerant. It doesn't much matter that those they support in Gaza wouldn't mind them dead as well - since they're all infidels anyway... Jewish, Christian... does it really matter? No. But these are useful idiots - blind to their own illogical actions in support of terrorists.

Joke of the Day - Enjoy!

The Arizona Department of Safety Officer pulled over pick-up truck owner Mike Murray for a weapons check because of an NRA bumper sticker. When the officer approached the vehicle, the man behind the wheel handed the officer his driver's license, insurance card and concealed carry permit.

The officer took all the documents, looked them over and said, "Mr. Murray, I see you have a CCP. Do you have any weapons with you?"

The driver replied, "Yes I do. I have a 357 handgun in a hip holster, a .45 in the glove box and a .22 derringer in my boot."

The officer looked at Mike and asked, "Anything else?"

"Yes. I have a Mossberg 500 12 gauge and an AR-15 in the back."

The officer asked if the man was driving to or from a shooting range and the man said he wasn't, so the officer bent over and looked into the driver's face and said "Mr. Murray, you're carrying quite a few guns. May I ask what you are afraid of?"

Mike locked eyes with the officer and calmly answered, "Not a F***ing thing".

How to Lose Your Job with a Click of a Button

Anthony Weiner has finally resigned. Took him long enough. I guess he had to wait for his wife Huma to come home to tell him what the smart thing was to do.

I can't say that I'm sorry to see him go. The Democratic Party will be at a loss without their 'attack dog'. But don't cry for him since he still keeps his million dollar pension and benefits.

A great article published by the New York Post, "Why Sex Scandals Matter", made a couple excellent points.

First - Any politician who 'sexts' or actually has 'sexual relations' with someone other than their spouse puts themselves in a very tenuous position open to blackmail.

Second - Democrats say that since they don't claim to stand for 'family values' they should be let off the hook. (Makes me feel better.)
Weiner’s defenders essentially are saying this: Democrats don’t wag their fingers in the national face when talking about the importance of family. (They only do that when they’re saying, “I did not have sex with that woman.”) So we should assume that all Democrats think the wedding vows they proclaimed in a legal ceremony in front of all their friends and loved ones are a joke.

There is some reason to credit this latter point. Clinton himself officiated at the ceremony and jokingly said that you take your chances when you marry a politician because it’s “easy to distrust them, whatever their religion.”

If the vows made before your G-d and your fiance don't mean anything... than those promises to uphold the Constitution can't mean a whole lot more.
